Mars Mantra

The main Mars mantra in Vedic astrology includes the seed syllable “kum” which connects to the fundamental vibration of the planet Mars. Kujaya is a name for the planet Mars.

The Mars beej (seed syllable) mantra is “Aum Kram Kreem Kroum Sah Bhamaya Namah.” The following is a word by word translation for this Mars Vedic astrology mantra:

AUM: OM can be viewed as having three parts: A-U-M. The A (ahhh) represents the beginning, the connection to the physical world. The U (oooh) signifies the maintaining of the physical universe. The M (mmmm) is the transformative energy of the universe and the realm of thoughts and feelings. 

KRAM: a Sanskrit word meaning to go, to walk, to step. This word can also mean to proceed uninterruptedly, to grow or increase or to preserve.

KREEM (KRIM): a mantra of divine manifestation, specifically the divine electricity that exists behind all things. This is a form of creative shakti or feminine energy. KRIM is the most important of the consonant mantras beginning with a hard consonant.

KROUM: a mystical seed syllable without a direct translation. This is a deep sound signifying spiritual energy. This word is similar to KRAM meaning a progression in spiritual development.

SAH: a Sanskrit word meaning to satisfy or to be pleased. SAH can also mean to bear, to endure, defying, equal to or to be patient. SAH indicates to ability to overpower or vanquish.

BHAMAYA: a word likely derived from the Sanskrit “bhu” meaning earth or earthly. “Maya” means “composed of” or “made of.” Bhamaya may be from the ancient language Prakit, associated with the Pali language.

NAMAH: a Sanskrit word meaning to honor or to revere. This word is often used at the end of mantras as a way to express both gratitude and reverence.

AM: a Sanskrit word meaning to go or to go towards, an interjection of assent meaning yes and acceptance. To see or recollect.

ANGARAKAYA: a Sanskrit name for Mars. Kaya means “body” or “form.” Mars is often associated with its red color, similar to burning charcoal that is called “Angara.”
